There are two lathes that are currently being manufactured and are available for purchase webmail

Vinyl Recorder - http://www.vinylrecorder.com/ -  A modern lathe manufactured in Germany.   It is built on a base which is designed to hold a Technics 1200 high torque turntable. It uses proprietary diamond cutting needles and is used exclusively to cut polycarbonate blanks, also available from Vinyl Recorder.  Purchasers must go train for several days with the designer, Souri, in Germany.  Critical former users have complained of being "cut off" from needles and other supplies and service by Souri, making their lathes unusable. This is the most inexpensive of the two modern lathes, costing between $4000-$5,000 with resharpenable diamond styli costing between $150-$300.  All accessories and parts are proprietary and are not available for purchase by anyone who does not own a VinylRecorder and who has trained with Souri.

Vinylium Dubplatecutter - http://www.vinylium.ch - A modern lathe overhead manufactured in Switzerland.  More expensive than the Vinyl Recorder. Also designed to fit on a  Technics 1200 turntable.  All parts and accessories are available for individual purchase, including diamond styli.
